Operation USA Contributes Emergency Aid To Middle East Crisis

An American cargo aircraft landed in Beirut on Thursday, September 7, 2006 carrying over $2.89 million worth of emergency supplies from a network of American relief agencies, including Operation USA.  Our contribution was over $1.8 million worth of medications and medical equipment.

The American University Hospital of Beirut and a network of small, locally-run medical clinics received the supplies, which, along with the cargo flight, were coordinated by MercyCorps.  The Hariri Foundation of Lebanon underwrote the entire cost of the aircraft charter.

Operation USA will continue to supply needed medications to agencies in Lebanon as funds and supplies allow. As always, we appreciate both monetary and appropriate product contributions from our many donors.
