A Holiday Message...
Dear Friend:
This has been a troubling and very busy period for Americans, especially so for the charities which serve as vehicles for Americans’ compassion here and abroad. With recent wildfires devastating a large area of Southern California, temporarily displacing 1 million people; major earthquakes in Peru and Chile; widespread hurricane damage in Mexico, Nicaragua, Haiti and the Dominican Republic; a deadly cyclone and flooding in Bangladesh; and “unfinished business” in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast…disaster relief is not only a fulltime job but providing meaningful, effective assistance to millions in need is supremely challenging.
Here at Operation USA—with just 15 staff and many committed volunteers—we are managing to respond to all of these….but just barely. We are 100% privately funded; we are supplied with the materials we need by America’s major health care companies and medical groups so we can match them with needs here and throughout the world.
We would love to have both new and renewed commitments from donors of both supplies and money.
John Donne said 500 years ago: “…Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee”
Have a wonderful holiday season!
