Steve Lipscomb, President and CEO of The World Poker Tour, and his wife, Miranda Viscoli, Have Been Dealt A Good Hand And They’re Giving Much Of It Back!

Steve and Miranda choose to donate to Operation USA because they understand that low administrative overhead and effective programs are a good bet. From the proceeds of garage sales to the donation of coveted players' seats at The World Poker Tour (WPT) invitational, they support Operation USA’s grant making throughout the world. They share Operation USA’s commitment to sustainable development and helping communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

Women in Vietnam also send their thanks to Steve, Miranda and The World Poker Tour. Proceeds from selling World Poker Tour wrist bands enable Operation USA to fund a micro-enterprise project in Dong Ngai province. The project gives small loans to women to finance small scale economic activities. These loans came at a crucial moment when Avian Flu threatens their livelihood by killing their chickens. Thanks to timely grants and loans, their source of income is unaffected.

Miranda is our Ace of Hearts. She supports an art program for children in Santa Rosa, Nicaragua which increases their self-esteem and contributes to their appreciation for reading and art. Miranda was also vital force in bringing a Community Mural project to fruition. Creating the mural was an empowering experience for all villagers because it speaks to their collective history and sense of permanence.

Soon after Hurricane Katrina, Steve, Miranda and The World Poker Tour staff, without hesitation, donated to Operation USA. Their rapid response made it possible for us to immediately send a shipment of electric generators, water purification devices, sleeping bags, antibiotics and medical supplies, diapers and feminine hygiene products to clinics in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

The World Poker Tour staff has also given us their continued support. Every year they participate in our Holiday Toy Drive, which collects new toys to be distributed to homeless shelters, battered women’s shelters, nonprofit community clinics and group homes so we are able to reach those who would otherwise be over-looked.
