WHAT WE DO

Emergency Relief Cargo Airlifts are emblematic of Operation USA's work in the face of disaster.
Domestic & International Emergency Relief

Operation USA has experienced that, instantaneously, a family, community and entire nation can be devastated and be faced with unprecedented challenges. To mitigate the immediate effects of such tragedies, Operation USA rapidly and expertly provides on-the-ground aid by sending vital life-saving supplies and cash grants to assist communities in rebuilding. Partnering with grassroots organizations, Operation USA specializes in reaching vulnerable populations who are in the greatest need, yet who are often ignored by governments and larger aid organizations.

Rapid Relief - When an emergency strikes, Operation USA is often one of the first professional responders, on the ground with medical supplies, water, purification equipment, shelter materials and trauma teams.
Recovery & Rebuilding - As the emergency phase slowly lessens, Operation USA makes grants to local organizations to help them build their capacity to meet their communities' basic needs.
Long-Term Development - Years after a disaster has abated, communities are still frequently in need of assistance. Responding to a continuing need, Operation USA makes grants to partner organizations for sustainable community-based projects.

Domestic Community Building

Operation USA is dedicated to making our society healthier and safer - both immediately and after a disaster strikes. Since 1983, Operation USA has been working here in the USA with non-profit community clinics providing them, free-of-charge, with basic medical supplies and equipment. Building on such work and on our success in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Operation USA recently received a grant from The California Endowment to provide disaster preparedness programs and supplies for California's community health clinics. In the face of cutbacks in public funding, the potential global bird flu pandemic and the ever present threat of another major earthquake, strengthening hundreds of community-based health clinics makes our work central to protecting California's medically underserved populations.

In-Kind Donations And Shipments

Operation USA makes life-saving supplies available throughout the world to those who cannot afford them. We are expert in facilitating material donations from pharmaceutical, medical supply, nutrition and shelter supply companies to people in need - whether it be truckloads of blankets to Native American communities in South Dakota; dispersing 900,000 doses of Vitamin A, that prevents childhood nutritional-related blindness, to Malawi, Nicaragua and eight other countries; or neonatal incubators and breast cancer medications to hospitals in Morocco.
