Domestic and International Emergency Relief:
Recovery and Rebuilding

Tsunami survivor livelihoods grant recipients working on palm leaf floor mats for sale to the public. Grant Recipients

Emerging from every disaster are inspiring leaders with relentless perseverance who guide long-term development projects. As the emergency phase slowly lessens, Operation USA makes grants to local organizations to help them build their capacity to meet their communities' basic needs. As a guiding principle, Operation USA does not solicit nor accept U.S. Government funding. Being privately funded enables Operation USA and its partner organizations to maintain total independence.

“Operation USA did not forget about us – even today they are still with us. My neighbor and I are part of a women’s cooperative. We make palm leaf floor mats that sell for $9. We both lost our husbands to the Tsunami and now we are providing for our families. Without Operation USA ’s support for Eye on Aceh, we would not be earning a living. Wwho knows where we would be?” ~Eye on Aceh grant recipient, Pidie, Indonesia. May 2006
