COST:
$200.00/ 2x per month (ongoing)

#BENEFICIARIES:
Ten (10) members who serve the entire community

TRAINING:

OBJECTIVE:
To aid in the formation of a village nonprofit organization that administrates village projects, handles finances, organizes loan and land grants, negotiates internal issues and disputes, runs village institutions (clinic, library and schools).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
10 village leaders meet regularly to discuss and make decisions on village programs, including all funding issues, any conflicts that arise and issues of villagers responsibilities. Projects under their management include micro loans (sewing, village market, pigs and chickens), small scale agriculture (i.e. Yuka garden on ¾ acre of land), recreational activities (baseball team, playground), children’s cafeteria (providing nutritional meals daily), and the management of the communal chicken coop (which includes the management of the rabbits and sheep).

RESULTS:
Planned: Increased responsibility placed on the villagers to run their own programs and reduce dependency on Operation USA.
Unplanned: Santa Rosa Unida has self-initiated projects that respond to the immediate needs of villagers.
