OPERATION USA TO AID CALIFORNIA FIRE VICTIMS
Operation USA, a Los Angeles-based relief agency, announced today that it was conducting the following relief operations to aid victims of the wildfires in California:
- Assist farm worker health and social service agencies in rural areas of fire-affected counties with funds and material aid aimed at the tens of thousands of “forgotten victims” who do not have access to support services.
- Providing medical supplies through the California Primary Care Association and the National Association of Community Health Centers to the San Diego Council of Community Clinics and other counties whose nonprofit community clinics request chronic care medications and other medical supplies to cope with post-disaster respiratory and eye problems.
- Providing 10,000 surgical and industrial masks to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for both local use and for distribution to other county sheriff’s departments under Mutual Aid Agreements.
- Provide access to post traumatic stress resources as needed in the weeks and months following the end of the fire disaster.
Operation USA appeals to corporate donors of bulk medical supplies and to the public for funds to allow it to purchase needed materials and provide financial support to small rural nonprofit agencies caring for farm workers and their families. Checks can be sent to: Operation USA, 3617 Hayden Ave., Suite A, Culver City, CA 90232; credit card donations can be made by calling 1-800-678-7255 or via the web at www.opusa.org and specifying that your donation is for the victims of the California wildfires.
