Bridging the Gaps in Global Relief

At Operation USA, we are greatly concerned for the people we serve, both here in the USA and abroad.

Recent proposed cuts in the US foreign assistance budget, if enacted, could eviscerate health, agriculture, education and entrepreneurship spending throughout the world. If that occurs, we will see profound effects on the children and families who rely on our investment in them to recover, build resiliency and thrive.

While Operation USA is not a government-funded organization, decreased funding for major international relief and development organizations and some foreign government ministries of health, education and agriculture–including the UN Children’s and Education Fund (UNICEF), the UN refugee program (UNHCR), the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA)–will deeply impact the nonprofit sector, and may reverse decades of progress.

In the face of these new challenges, privately-funded organizations will have an increasingly urgent role to play in bridging gaps that may widen as larger groups who have historically relied on government funds to operate face setbacks. Operation USA must now rely on individual, corporate and foundation donors more than ever if we are to maintain a high volume of aid and development assistance in the world’s too often overlooked and under-served communities. We can’t do it without you.
