Indonesia Earthquake and Tsunami Response

October 9, 2018–The death toll in Indonesia has risen to 1,944, and more than 5,000 people are missing and presumed dead. Operation USA is continuing to monitor the situation and assess opportunities to aid community-based partners with in-kind materials or cash grants where possible.

September 30, 2018–On Friday, September 28, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Indonesia, triggering an 18-foot tsunami wave. Hundreds of people were reportedly killed and damage is extensive.

 

Operation USA is currently monitoring the situation and assessing opportunities to provide relief aid and long-term recovery support. After previously working in Indonesia in 2004-07 following major disasters, we hope to call on existing partnerships to expedite the delivering of aid.
