August 5, 2020– Our hearts are with all those impacted by the fatal explosion in Beirut, Lebanon earlier this week. As of today, the death toll has risen to 100, with thousands more injured. A reported 300,000 people have been displaced, and entire neighborhoods were leveled by the blast, which was felt up to 150 miles away from the Port of Beirut where it occurred. The Lebanese Health Minister, Hamad Hasan, has reported that there is an “acute shortage of everything” as hospitals were severely impacted and the entire area is without power. Recovery from this deadly disaster will be challenging.

Operation USA has worked in Lebanon on multiple occasions, sending a relief airlift to Beirut in 1982 after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and organizing another airlift and donating $1.8 million in supplies to the war-torn country in 2006. At this time, we are prepared to deliver aid however we are able–pending the availability of funds and supplies.

Donations at this time will enable OpUSA to get hospital equipment, medical supplies and other much-needed support to Beirut. We thank you for your support.
