Hurricane Melissa Recovery: We’re Still Here

As Hurricane Melissa swept through the Caribbean with historic Category 5 winds, communities in Jamaica faced life-threatening flooding, severe storm surge, and devastating rainfall. With winds reaching 185 mph, this was one of the strongest storms in the region’s history. While the storm has passed, the recovery is far from over.

Operation USA has stood with Jamaican communities since the 1980s, and we are here again working closely with trusted local partners to assess needs and support recovery efforts. The hardest work comes after the headlines fade: rebuilding homes, schools, livelihoods, and essential infrastructure.

OpUSA restricts all program donations to our Rapid Relief Supplies and Grants. This ensures we and our partners are able to use your donation to best meet the ever-changing needs of impacted communities. With rare exceptions, we do not restrict funds to specific disasters. Rather, we honor our donors intent and direct their generous gifts to those communities with the current greatest needs.
