At OpUSA, we know that building and restoring education and health capacity are the most impactful ways to help children and families recover and thrive in the wake of disasters. We believe that now, more than ever, initiatives aimed at improving nutrition, wellness, literacy and learning are of the utmost importance for youth here in America and in vulnerable communities across the globe. That’s why we pride ourselves on putting your donations to work in the most efficient and effective ways possible to provide families with access to these programs.
During the past decade, Operation USA has helped open five schools—in Haiti, the Philippines, Nepal and China—and supported education programs in a dozen disaster-impacted communities. In the Philippines, the Ngolos Honeywell Elementary School in Guiuan just celebrated their second graduating class since Typhoon Haiyan devastated the community in 2013. In Nepal, the Shree Panchkanya Secondary School opened its doors to more than 350 students in Fyakse this month, providing a safe space to learn and grow after two major earthquakes devastated the village in 2015. In communities across the United States—on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations and in Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Missouri—OpUSA has delivered post-disaster aid to schools, libraries and clinics. In India, Chile, Rwanda and Mexico, we’ve provided funds for disaster recovery programs supporting education and helping to build resiliency.
Your donations bring our mission to life every single day: When you give, it gets there.
As climate change increases the threat of new natural disasters, and as our changing politics and legislation here at home bring great challenges to the nonprofit sector, now is the time to reaffirm your commitment to supporting to our work here in the US and in the world’s most vulnerable communities.
