MEDIA ALERT: LA-Based NGO Operation USA Preparing to Aid Ukrainian Refugees in Poland and Neighboring Countries as Refugee Crisis is Imminent
February 25, 2022 | Los Angeles, Calif.– As experts anticipate as many as 4 million Ukrainians to be displaced following the Russian invasion, Operation USA–a 43-year-old LA-based NGO–is mobilizing to provide material aid support to groups providing on-the-ground support to refugees in Poland and nearby countries. OpUSA’s ability to deliver aid at this time is dependent upon financial support from the public as well as engagement from corporate partners who can donate supplies–food and water, new clothing, blankets, flashlights and batteries, first aid supplies, health and hygiene items, shelter materials, medical supplies and equipment, and other disaster-appropriate items–in bulk quantities.
OpUSA has experience working in Poland, having responded with material aid following the enactment of martial law in 1982, as well as four decades’ experience delivering material aid to disaster zones. At this time we’re calling on existing partnerships, as well as establishing new frontline partners, to expedite the delivery of aid where it is needed most.
Cash donations from the public will allow for international shipments via air or sea as well as for additional procurement of critical supplies. Material aid will be staged and deployed from LA or drop shipped directly to partners. OpUSA is not advising public collection drives at this time.
Donations can be made at
give.opusa.org. Corporate donors can contact Mary Dolan at mdolan@opusa.org for more info.
